3 Years

On Sunday, Brett and I celebrated three years of dating. Appropriately enough, we went to a wedding for some friends of ours. While we didn't do anything too special it was sweet to just be.

Sorry so blurry..
Woo! Three years!
Brett got me a monopod for my camera so we decided to try it out!
I'm the luckiest.... :)
Brett, thank you for the last three years! Thank you for being patient and persistent in your pursuit! I am so incredibly excited that we will have a new anniversary to celebrate in a few months! EEEK!! I am glad we have 80 more years together! :) I love you with all my heart and cannot wait to be your wife!

Good Friday

Spring Break has been wonderful. We got back from Phenix City on Wednesday. I got to spend a day or so with my niece and sister-in-law which was so wonderful! They are now picking up Amy, Jeff, Eric and the rest of the team that went to Uganda! They are back and I am so excited! They had an amazing trip and I can't wait to hear more about it and see pictures!!
Last night, Brett and I made a spur of the moment trip to Dauphin Island. It was so nice to drive and just be together.

As we are almost there a friend called and said a group of our friends were getting together to watch The Passion. We rushed back so that we could hang out and watch. While that movie is not always easy to watch, it certainly is good to remember what He suffered for us. Although I am sure that this movie is a good picture, it probably doesn't compare at all to what He suffered for us.
Brett found this video and I thought I would share. I am so thankful that He willingly came to this earth, lived a perfect life, died, and even faced the full wrath of God all for me.

YES.

Let me just say, this blog contains a million pictures...but according to some, no one READS the writing anyways! :)
For those of you who are unaware, something very exciting happened this weekend! On Sunday, Brett asked me to marry him and I SAID YES!! I cannot even explain how thrilled I am and how ready I am to be his wife!
Now, without further adieu...here are some pictures and our engagement story:
My whole family was in town this past weekend which was wonderful! A couple of weeks ago Brett and I had already planned to go to Fairhope. We have done this before so I obviously thought nothing of it and we hadn't been on a date in a while so that is why we planned! :) We were going to go eat and go by the water to take pictures. I really like to do that in case you didn't know.
So, after church we head across the bay and eat at California Dreaming. We hung out around and shopped a little and then headed down by the bay! It was kind of a hazy day but we started just taking pictures and walking around...
He doesn't even look NERVOUS..does he??
Little did I know......Brett's roommate who is a far better photographer than I am was there the whole time to capture the event! THANK YOU JUDSON!!!!
We walked out on this pier and took pictures and talked for a while.....He said some sweet things and before he asked said, "I'm going to need your purity ring to give you some new bling!"
Side note: When I was 12 or 13 (don't exactly remember when) my dad took me out on a very special date. The reason for this date was to explain sex to me. (lower your eyebrows...pick your jaws up off the floor!) My parents knew that it was so important for us to not view sex as this nasty, terrible thing that we should NEVER do! They wanted us to know God's view about sex and what God's Word had to say about it. On this date he gave me a ring that he had special made for me. It had three question marks on it and three hearts surrounding a diamond. The questions are to remind me, "Does it honor God? Does it honor others? Does it honor myself?" I haven't taken it off since that day, until now. I have a replacement!!
"I have to ask you the most important question of your life....Laura, will you be my wife?"
Umm....shock. Absolute shock. I had no idea!!! I obviously knew it was coming but had no idea that it was that day!!

SO EXCITED!!!

He did so great and completely surprised me!!!

I LOVE YOU!!!

Okay...so I love my ring too!! :)

Are you serious? You've had the ring how long? :)

So happy! So many questions! haha..

Oh....Judson is here.. HEY JUDSON!!

 ENGAGED!!!
 I LOVE YOU BRETT KITTRELL!!!
Then....we headed home....

We had a party waiting for us!!! ((My mom when I called her!!))
I don't know what I thought this get together would be like but with my family......I should have known!!
This is what I see when we pull up.....

We're HERE!!!
So many sweet friends there!!
And then.......the kitchen.. NO DETAIL WAS OVERLOOKED!!
Our beautiful cake!

There were little diamond rings attached to each balloon!
Amy, Linds, and mom did such a great job!! Actually, I know everyone played a part in making this party so special for us!
We felt SO LOVED!!
Our parents gave us a big basket full of books, wedding magazines, kitchen stuff, and some towels with my new monogram!!
LOVE these!!

Then we headed outside to take some pictures....
Looking a little rough....tired but so happy!!

I am so blessed to have such unbelievable parents!!

My parents and FUTURE INLAWS!!

SISTER!!
Brothers and sisters!! (minus Linds and Eric)
And....of course a couple of pictures of the ring......
Isn't it beautiful? I am in love! He picked it out all my himself!!!
Family and friends, THANK YOU all for making this day so amazing!! We both felt so special and so loved!! Each of you that were there Sunday have played such an important role in our lives!! Thank you for praying for us and loving us both so well!!
Brett, thank you for being so thoughtful and making me feel like the most important girl in the world! Sunday was perfect and you definitely surprised me! I love you so much and cannot wait to be your wife!!
((If you stuck with me THANKS! Hope you enjoyed our story!))

Celebrating Life and Love

Holidays, the two of usLaura KittrellComment
Happy Valentine's Day Bloggers!!
This weekend we celebrated a couple of things. On Friday, Brett and I went out to celebrate his birthday. We had dinner and went to see the movie, Just Go With It. It was pretty cute and very funny!
Mom wanted a picture too... :)
We came home and Brett opened his gifts. I tell you, sometimes it is a struggle to buy gifts for that boy! I ended up doing, "Something You Want", "Something You Need", "Something to Eat", and "Something to Read." He really liked all that he got even though I stressed about his presents for days. It's just funny...I used to be the best gift giver. Seriously...I love to give gifts to people. Not just any gift, but the thoughtful ones, but with him, I struggle. He always knows what to get me and I always love it.

Even though today is Valentine's day, Brett and I had to celebrate early and won't even see each other today. We celebrated on Saturday night. I cooked for him.....and his roommates! :) Grilled chicken (Brett grilled), garlic and parmesan potatoes (thanks for the recipe Kara!), and green beans....mmm...
For dessert....cupcakes. They were decorated with these candy cane hearts. I have been wanting to do these since last year when I saw them here. They were easy and so cute!

My Valentine....
Brett is a GREAT gift giver. No, it's not always the norm...but it is always something practical and useful! I had been wanting the Pioneer Woman Biography...which I got, BUT, I also got her cookbook and I can't wait to use it! Then, he got me another Max Lucado book that I cannot wait to start reading! I have started the PIoneer Woman's biography/love story. Umm....so good. I should finish soon...and it's 319 pages. Yeah....it's a good love story.
You have my heart sweet boy.
For my gift to Brett I had to be slightly more creative because I had just dropped some money on him for his birthday. I ended up making him a slideshow of a bunch of pictures of us with a poem I wrote for him in the middle of it. (I'll pause for a moment and wait for the comments from the peanut gallery aka my family) Yeah, sappy and silly...but free. Best part....he loved it. "Best gift ever" Although, he might have been lying when he said that. I tried to upload it but......something won't work. So I gave up.
Brett, I am so happy to call you my valentine for the third year in a row. There is so much to love about you! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and for being so considerate. Thank you for loving me....even when I do not deserve it! You are a blessing!

Happy Birthday to My Main Man!

the two of usLaura KittrellComment
I mean...I could get all mushy gushy about how much I love him and how wonderful he is..BUT Valentine's Day is coming so we'll save that for another post!
This guy is truly one of a kind. He won my heart a long time ago and I am grateful for this relationship that the Lord has so uniquely woven together.
Brett, I love you so much and hope this will be the best year yet! You are such a gift! Thank you for adding so much to my life!
Happy Birthday and I love you!!

5 Reasons I LOVE Road Trips With Brett...

the two of usLaura KittrellComment
This weekend Brett and I are headed to visit his parents. I love road trips with him.
Why you may ask do I enjoy this 4ish hour drive?
1. I usually always make a road trip cd. This trips music will probably not thrill him quite as much as it thrills me...but he is a pretty good sport.
2. Without fail, if and when we stop for gas, he brings me a diet coke and chocolate. The boy knows the way to my heart. Just sayin'
3. Time alone. So nice...
4. Let's just be honest. It is good to get away and out of the routine even if it is just to Phenix City.
5. Best. Conversations. Ever. Seriously.
Stay warm this weekend!

I Like the Way You Hung the Moon

the two of usLaura KittrellComment
So today I was feeling crafty. Okay...what I did is a lame excuse for being crafty but either way.. It was something I had been wanting to do for Brett and I got to use markers. I'm thinking the teacher in me needed to come out and use some school supplies today.
Anyways, as I have mentioned before Brett started student teaching this semester. I went through this whole stressful process last semester except he also coaches. So needless to say he has been thrown into this thing we call the "real world" pretty quickly. Well, while I did my student teaching Brett was so encouraging and helpful and sweet. He brought me little treats every now and then and I of course want to be that for him.

In honor of this last semester of school I made a "Countdown to Graduation." Not many things thrill me more than scratching days off a calendar or a to do list so I figured it would thrill him too. :) haha.

Yeah...I put all the important dates on there! :)

I got some ribbon and tied each month together and there you have it. I thought it turned out cute. I know the polka dots are pretty manly too.

He has been working so hard and if you know Brett you know he is not an early bird so this waking up thing has been a new challenge as well. BUT, it will all be worth it in just 103 days! :) I love you sweet boy.

AND...because I think you hung the moon...this song is for you. I love this.
I like the way you hung the moon, uh huh.
Well, I just like being close to you, uh huh.
When you're gone I feel so blue, uh huh.
Yeah, I like the way you hung the moon uh huh.

I like the way you know that dance, uh huh.
I like the way you hold my hand, uh huh.
Just spin me all across the floor, uh huh.
Yeah, I like the way you know that dance, uh huh.

Well I like the way you sing your songs, uh huh.
You've been singing to me all along, uh huh.
The way you loved me won my heart, uh huh.
Yeah, I like the way you sing your songs, uh huh.

I put on that white dress for you, uh huh.
I told the preacher man well yes i do, uh huh.
I'll stay and I'll grow gray with you, uh huh.
Yeah, I put on that white dress for you, uh huh.

Monday is over folks! :)
