A Perfect Day

Family, LifeLaura KittrellComment
Today was absolutely fabulous. Eric and Lindsey came into town which means.......
Yes, more pictures of this child that I obsess over. I'm sorry but...I like to take pictures and she is good practice...Plus, her parents love that I document her life. :)
Here are some pictures of our lovely little Saturday.

We started off the day with a little sidewalk chalk.....
Aunt Amy helping her blow some bubbles....

Catching them with Uncle Pudge

 Sweet little family...

Giving some kisses....
Then...we headed to the park for a picnic....it was a BEAUTIFUL DAY!!

 Hey Linds!

The boys played a little baseball...
Funny story....they start throwing the football and it somehow gets stuck in a tall tree. So, they try using the softball to get it out...Wouldn't you know that the softball got stuck too. Whoops! Finally after many, many, many, many, many attempts we retrieved both the softball and the football. Only us.

This little lady was able to experience her first Pollman's cookie...

I'd say she liked it.... :)

It was such a fun day with family and we all loved that we got to love on this precious girl all day!!
Hope your Saturday was as beautiful as ours! :)

Persecuted, Not Abandoned

Sorry for the blogging break. Honestly, not too much has been going on around here. I will share that I got a job! It is basically a sub job for the rest of the year doing special education. I am not certified for special ed but I am so excited for this experience!
Anyways, at church we have started studying the book of Revelation. Jack has done a really great job explaining things that are confusing and honestly, really deep. Sunday, we studied Revelation 2:8-11. It was amazing but more than anything, it was convicting. Really convicting. These verses show a letter to the church of Smyrna. First of all, let me start by saying that they are probably verses I would have skipped without putting any effort towards what was being said. How wrong of me. There is so much in this passage of Scripture.
In this letter there is no rebuke. There is only encouragement and Christ only says good things about this church. This is because this church was suffering so severely for their faith.
Verses 9 and 10 say, "I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will save you the crown of life."

Really? I do not know suffering. I hope that when I suffer I consider myself to be rich. I pray that if the Lord was to tell me that I would be thrown in prison, tortured, or even would suffer to death, that I would trust Him. I pray I would remember that it is an honor and privilege to suffer for Christ. The church in Smyrna show us that their faith in Christ cost them everything. They were rich in eternal treasure and that was enough for them. Jack reminded us that suffering is the badge of a true Christian
I will say, the principles about suffering for Christ, I had heard. I know that it is important to suffer for Christ. I know that as believers, suffering is promised. I know that we live in America and that often, this is used as an excuse for why we don't suffer. I do not know suffering. This message convicted me. No, it doesn't mean that I am packing my bags and heading to another country where I know I will suffer. Besides, there will probably be more and more suffering coming in the United States before we know it. It also doesn't mean that I have had this radical change in me. It simply means that I was convicted. I was convicted that I do not suffer, that I don't ever truly think about suffering, and that I do not consistently pray for those that do suffer.
Jack went on to talk about a man named Polycarp.
He was the Bishop of Smyrna. He was a martyr. He devoted his life to Christ and for that he suffered and died. Those who killed him begged him over and over again to renounce Christ and he would have saved himself. He never did. They beat him and drug him out to where he would be burned at the stake. They gave him one more chance and he said, "Eighty-six years I have served Him and He has done me no wrong. How can I blaspheme my King and my Savior?" They lit the stake on fire but he was not singed. Someone was ordered to stick a sword in him. When they did, his blood gushed out and extinguished the fire. Wow. All I can say is, what a way to go. Polycarp served Christ until death and Christ made a statement through his death.
I want to pray for those who are persecuted. I want to pray for the future and that we, as believers, will be strong when we are persecuted and that we would pray for persecution. He is faithful. He suffered and died for us. Shouldn't we suffer for Him?

:..he and she..:

He has settled into student teaching and is almost halfway done.

She is unbelievably proud of how he has handled the stress of coaching, student teaching, and life.

He has done it with more grace than she did! :)

They made a weekend road trip to Phenix City to see his parents.

He celebrated twenty two years of life.

She is glad he was born! :)

They celebrated their third Valentine's day together.

She had a family vacation to Disney World.

He finished up his second season of coaching/assisting the Lady Bulldogs basketball team.

They have had some good "life talks" and are both enjoying what they are learning with BSF.

Where Memories Are Made

Family, Photography, TravelLaura KittrellComment
I am almost certain that I forgot to mention that I was going to Disney World with my family! I cannot believe I failed to mention this detail. On Thursday we left and went about halfway. This is Virginia's first trip to Disney World! Because I enjoy taking pictures of her and I want her mom and dad to be able to enjoy every minute of her, I have taken it upon myself (along with Amy) to document her vacation and her first experience in the most magical place on earth! Over the next few days I'll be sharing mostly pictures and a few words about what we are doing. This is easier than trying to update when I get home!
So here is what we have been up to the last couple of days...

Celebrating Life and Love

Holidays, the two of usLaura KittrellComment
Happy Valentine's Day Bloggers!!
This weekend we celebrated a couple of things. On Friday, Brett and I went out to celebrate his birthday. We had dinner and went to see the movie, Just Go With It. It was pretty cute and very funny!
Mom wanted a picture too... :)
We came home and Brett opened his gifts. I tell you, sometimes it is a struggle to buy gifts for that boy! I ended up doing, "Something You Want", "Something You Need", "Something to Eat", and "Something to Read." He really liked all that he got even though I stressed about his presents for days. It's just funny...I used to be the best gift giver. Seriously...I love to give gifts to people. Not just any gift, but the thoughtful ones, but with him, I struggle. He always knows what to get me and I always love it.

Even though today is Valentine's day, Brett and I had to celebrate early and won't even see each other today. We celebrated on Saturday night. I cooked for him.....and his roommates! :) Grilled chicken (Brett grilled), garlic and parmesan potatoes (thanks for the recipe Kara!), and green beans....mmm...
For dessert....cupcakes. They were decorated with these candy cane hearts. I have been wanting to do these since last year when I saw them here. They were easy and so cute!

My Valentine....
Brett is a GREAT gift giver. No, it's not always the norm...but it is always something practical and useful! I had been wanting the Pioneer Woman Biography...which I got, BUT, I also got her cookbook and I can't wait to use it! Then, he got me another Max Lucado book that I cannot wait to start reading! I have started the PIoneer Woman's biography/love story. Umm....so good. I should finish soon...and it's 319 pages. Yeah....it's a good love story.
You have my heart sweet boy.
For my gift to Brett I had to be slightly more creative because I had just dropped some money on him for his birthday. I ended up making him a slideshow of a bunch of pictures of us with a poem I wrote for him in the middle of it. (I'll pause for a moment and wait for the comments from the peanut gallery aka my family) Yeah, sappy and silly...but free. Best part....he loved it. "Best gift ever" Although, he might have been lying when he said that. I tried to upload it but......something won't work. So I gave up.
Brett, I am so happy to call you my valentine for the third year in a row. There is so much to love about you! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and for being so considerate. Thank you for loving me....even when I do not deserve it! You are a blessing!

Happy Birthday to My Main Man!

the two of usLaura KittrellComment
I mean...I could get all mushy gushy about how much I love him and how wonderful he is..BUT Valentine's Day is coming so we'll save that for another post!
This guy is truly one of a kind. He won my heart a long time ago and I am grateful for this relationship that the Lord has so uniquely woven together.
Brett, I love you so much and hope this will be the best year yet! You are such a gift! Thank you for adding so much to my life!
Happy Birthday and I love you!!
